On occasion, I am asked about my Ph.D. thesis. These questions usually come from prospective Ph.D. students or from uncommonly intellectually curious individuals. What was the thesis about? How long was it? What was the thesis defense like?

In addition, I have uploaded the powerpoint slides from my thesis defense presentation along with the audio from my actual thesis defense speech. After (1) submitting the approved thesis, (2) giving the defense speech, and (3) finishing a private 2-hour cross-examination from my 5-person thesis committee - bam! - I was a "doctor of philosophy" in biochemistry.
